I had written a fairly long message, and tried to attach an Excel spreadsheet. I usually have a problem finding a MS file - seems to have a number of "documents" folder locations. Assume some are "copy of" folders. So every copy I could find of the *file* gave an error of "File name" "Not implemented". I thought at first it was a pseudo-folder issue, why I tried all of them.

One of the suggestions I read was to log out and back in to TBird. I x'd out of it, and said yes to save as draft. When I logged back in, the Drafts folder was empty. I did a search all on my account, and found it, with the folder listed as Drafts. But I still couldn't get the Excel to attach (I finally solved it by using Outlook. Not my favorite option, but it seems to have worked.

I went back to Drafts after sending with Outlook, and I'm not sure what happened, but it was no longer showing in the Drafts, and then I did something else, and it showed up in Drafts. No, not sure what I did.

Anyone have any ideas? TBird: 128.7.1esr (64-bit) Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2502 Build 16.0.18526.20086) 64-bit

Why do I want this?

I export my address book as LDIF several times per day.

I am a SERIOUS Thunderbird user.

A user for 30 years (counting a decade of Netscape Messenger). I currently have about 500,000 messages in nearly 1,000 folders, and an address book of nearly 4,000 entries. I spend several hours per day in Thunderbird, reading and sending email, reading technical and financial newsletters, plus current news and events, etc. Talking to clients, colleagues, friends and family.

But, I also have significant home-grown email infrastructure. I use it for mass-mailings of tips to the thousands of subscribers on my various mailing lists. I manage all of the mailing lists via the UI of Thunderbird, export them as LDIF files, and use home-grown software to read the LDIF files and generate the mailing list format used by my custom software.

Thunderbird is VASTLY superior to Outlook, Gmail, or any of the other alternatives! Not only in terms of feature set, but also speed, reliability, standards compliance, Unix-style use of plain text for portability, etc.

I often have open email tabs and come back to them days/weeks later to go through them. Today I was deleting emails not needed to free up some space, restarted the computer, and all my open tabs are blank, both the heading on the tab as well as the tab itself. I have no way to know what those emails were, except to go through a couple months of emails, looking for ones I had open. Any idea how to restore the text in the blank email tabs?

Dear Team After Updating from 102.15.1 (32Bit) to 115.28.0 (32Bit) I can not connect to the provider "pop.hispeed.ch" anymore. Ping pop.hispeed.ch (on CMD) shows normal raction of beeing reachable with a "reply from xxxx.". I am on Windows 7 SP1. I have checked several times all setting POP and SMTP, switched off Firewall, uninstalled virus scanner, and and and many more (all knowledge found on internet..). Pressing the "Get Message" button in the upper menue bar shows no raction when pressed. The icon "Get Message" on the left side of the button "+ New Message" results in a none moving blue status bar at the right bottom of the window. After a while with the message "timed out.. ".In the settings "Config Editor.." the values of "mailnews.tcptimeout" are set to "300", and "true". I am using TB since donkey years with many many eMails. Are the lost? I run TBird 128.7.1 Under Win 11-64.

Yesterday, I started writing, and editing, a detailed message, and then clicked to Save it, planning further editing today.

A few minutes ago, I opened my Account's Drafts folder, but was unable to find the message after sorting the folder every which way. Next, I opened Local Folders Drafts, and found it empty.

At that point, I entered the message's Subject in the CNTL-K Search field, and found the message (Whew...!) but I still did not know where it was hiding, so, I clicked Show As List, and learned that the message was located in my Account's Drafts folder, just as it should be.

The good news is that I can complete the editing of the message. The bad news is that I am still unable to locate the message in Drafts directly. I must search for it using CNTL-K.

What might be causing this disappearing act? And how might I prevent it?

I’ve got a minor but annoying Quick Filter button issue which just cropped up today out of nowhere, and haven’t been able to find an exact match for all these symptoms in any other problem reports.

Toggling my Quick Filter button works as expected, picking up the individual active filter buttons. However, in some instances of launching TB its on/off status indicator always displays as active regardless of individual filter button status. Weirder still, in other cases it always displays as inactive. It’s an intermittent problem, which always persists in one way or the other.

Further details:

- Problem is also present in safe mode, with the single plugin I use (CardBook) disabled.

- General display settings are “Theme Simple” and “Variant Normal” (not “Dark”).

- There are no automatic filters configured in “Tools > Message Filters”.

- Individual filter buttons are all working properly, including correct status indicators.

- Running current TB version (128.7.0esr 64-bit) on Windows 10 with all OS patches up to date.

An example:

Image 1: “Show only unread messages” button is active, and the Quick Filter button also displays as such (both indicators are correct).

Image 2: All individual filter buttons are inactive, yet the Quick Filter button still indicates a filter is active.

I’m stumped, thanks in advance for any help!

Hi!

So we use thunderbird in the board of out student association and I was chosen as the board member responsible for culture this year. The previous person responsible for this has deleted/logged out of the ”culture” email. Now neither of us can log in, even though the password and other settings are most likely correct. What should I do? I feel like the problem is the fact that there is no name connected to the account at the moment, but I am not sure.

I had to reset the password for my Outlook account and now whenever I try to use it for Thunderbird I get an authentication pop-up that tells me either the userid or password are wrong. I have verified (using webmail) that the userid and password are correct. I have tried deleting the Outlook account on Thunderbird and now cannot re-add it because of the same password (supposedly) incorrect issue. I have rebooted the Windows 10 laptop and tried to add the Outlook account again - still no success.

Don't really want to delete/re-install Thunderbird as I have a number of email accounts set up and I am not convinced that re-installing would fix the problem.

I have several email account set up with Comcast and am able to sign on to all but one with Thunderbird. That one gives me the login has failed message to enter new password or try again. I've compared the settings on that account with the others that work and they appear to be correct. However when I check saved passwords, that account is missing the smtp line for the POP account. At this point, I've run out of ideas of what to do, short of deleting that account on Thunderbird and setting it up as a new account. Help! Thanks.

I have use this feature for years. Any idea what is going on? Microsoft suggests that I use Outlook-I don't think so.

Dear Support Team,

I recently recovered a disk from an older laptop and successfully exported all messages to my new system running macOS X Monterey (12.7.6). The installation was done from scratch, without having Thunderbird installed previously. I am currently using Thunderbird 128.7.1esr (64-bit). However, I am encountering an issue where all messages—whether old or new—are appearing in the same month, despite the actual date they were sent.

When sorting by date, the inbox sorts correctly, but all messages display with the same month (April), regardless of when they were received. This issue occurs across all folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Archives, and any local folders). While the day and year are accurate, the month always shows as April.

I have verified the date and time settings on macOS, which are set to automatic, and the region matches the settings in Thunderbird. I have also run the "Repair Folder" option on the Inbox folder properties, but the issue persists across all folders.

Do you have any suggestions for resolving this?
